Mangalore:  “An  Awareness on the duties of a citizen is the need of the hour. Republic Day is one of India's greatest successes and achievements. It is one of the reasons why people of India can practice their democratic rights and responsibilities. One must remember the sacrifices made by our ancestors and the freedom fighters to build a nation that we are proud of. Today, if we are safe at home it is because of the people guarding us at the borders said Dr Yathish Kumar, Associate  Professor & Research Guide in the Department of Commerce and Management, University College, Mangaluru also the Naval Commander  hoisting the National Flag on the 74th Republic day Celebration at Shakthi Grounds.

“Justice, Liberty, Equality and Fraternity of the preamble give us fundamental values and highlights of the Constitution. Every individual belonging to this nation must be treated equally. As one is conscious of his fundamental Rights one should be aware of his duties too. This festival is celebrated with great pride and must be celebrated for years together. The making of the constitution started much before independence. We required a constitution to conduct our nation in a good manner. Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar was made chairman of the committee. Our Constitution was ready after 2 years 11 months 18 days. Though the constitution was ready on 26 November 1949 it was adopted on January 26, 1950 and ever since the day is celebrated as Republic Day. 

Chief Advisor Ramesh K, Prathviraj, Principal of Shakthi PU College and Vidya Kamath G, Principal of Shakthi residential School were present on the dais. The event began with the National Song , unfurling of the National Flag, National Anthem and the Flag Song by the School Choir led by Sharanappa, Kannada Teacher.

Priyanka Rai compered the event, Madhura B.C introduced the guest. All faculties of Shakthi along with the students were present on this occasion.
