Mangalore:- A book titled  ‘Counselling: theories, techniques and practice’, written by Carmelite Priest Dr Praveen D’Souza, director of Emmaus Counselling Centre, Mapusa, Goa was released by Rev Fr Pius James Dsouza, provincial of Karnataka-Goa province on 13th  January 2021, during the 6pm novena mass at Infant Jesus shrine, Bikarnakatte, Mangalore. Archbishop Filipe Neri Ferrao has written a foreword to the book. The book focuses on major Western as well as Eastern theories of counselling. It also has a Spiritual theory of Counselling.

  The theories answer four questions: What is the view of human nature, what makes the person distressed, how to bring the person from distress to wellness and what techniques to use.The book not only deals with theories but also with the practical application of theories to a case. This book will be useful to lay people, religious, practicing counsellors and students of counselling psychology. Fr Praveen D’Souza, who hails from Agrar-Mangalore, has completed his PhD in Counselling Psychology (Clinical) at De La Salle University, Manila, Philippines.
