Bengaluru: The Karnataka Raj Bhavan will henceforth be called 'Lok Bhavan, Karnataka', the Governor's Secretariat said on Wednesday.
The change will come into effect with immediate effect after the approval of Karnataka Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot, a notification issued by the Governor's Secretariat said.
"It is hereby notified that in pursuance of the communication from the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India ... and with the approval of the Governor of Karnataka, the name of 'Raj Bhavan, Karnataka' has been changed and renamed as Lok Bhavan, Karnataka," the notification said.
All heads of departments of the state government have been directed to refer to "Raj Bhavan Karnataka" as "Lok Bhavan Karnataka" in all future correspondence.
