Chhattisgarh, Nov 18: A Naxal was killed in an encounter with security forces in Sukma district of Chhattisgarh, a police official said.

The security forces launched an operation based on specific information about the presence of Naxals in a forest hill under Errabor police station limits. The encounter took place in the morning, he said.

So far, the body of one Naxal has been recovered from the spot. The encounter is currently underway and more details are awaited, he said.

Three Naxals were killed in an encounter with security forces in the forest hills under Bhejji and Chintagufa police station areas of Sukma.

So far this year, 263 Naxals have been killed in encounters in Chhattisgarh. Of these, 234 people were killed in Bastar division, which includes seven districts including Sukma, and 27 in Gariaband district, which falls under Raipur division.

Two Naxals were gunned down in Mohla-Manpur-Ambaghar Chowki district of Durg division.
