Kadakkal: A Congress leader was arrested with ganja in Kadakkal, Kollam. The excise team arrested Sachin, a native of Mangad, with ganja.
One and a half kg ganja was found and taken into custody from the arrested Congress leader. Sachin is a member of the Congress Kummil Executive Committee. Sachin was arrested in a search conducted near Kadakkal market under the leadership of Chadyamangalam Excise Range Inspector Rajesh.
The Congress leader was arrested in a raid conducted on specific information that drugs were being exchanged and sold in the evening in Kadakkal market and surrounding areas. Sachin, a local Congress leader, was active in Congress programs against drugs.
Sachin was importing ganja from other states and selling it in small packets, the Excise Department said. The Excise Department said that members of his gang have been identified and those delivering the marijuana are being monitored.
