Udupi : The dedication ceremony of the Suvarna Gupura of the sanctum sanctorum of the 800 year old Sri Krishna Math would be held here from May 31 to June 10, 2019.
Addressing media persons at Sri Krishna Math on Tuesday, May 28, Sri Vidyadheesha Theertha Swamiji of Payaya Palimar Math said that the roof of the gopura was being adorned with sheets made from 300 kg of copper, 900 kg of silver and more than 100 kg of pure gold.
He said that earlier he thought difficult task to cover in such precious metals, but by the grace of Lord Sri Krishna the project will be completed as per the plan. The Suvarna Gopura (Golden Dome) would have the shape of tiles which is the part of the culture of coastal Karnataka. A copper sheet had been laid on teakwood structure of the gopura. The copper sheet is covered with a silver sheet and topped with a gold sheet. Twenty three carat gold had been used so that the sheet remains strong and retains its golden colour, Swamiji said.
The Sarvamoola religious texts written by the exponent of Dwaita philosophy Sri Madhwacharya had been printed on the copper sheet using laser technology. The total cost of this project is estimated at Rs 40 crore.
The invitation cards are inaugurated during the occasion in front of the media persons. Meanwhile the inaugural invitation cards were inaugurated by the Deputy Commissioner Hephsiba Rany Korlapati along with Nisha James, Superintendent of Udupi district police.
Seer said that the Shikara Sthpane would be held on June 6, while the Brahmakalahotsava would be held at Sri Krishna Math on June 9. The Sahasra Rajatha Kalasha Abhisheka to Lord Krishna would be held on June 9. Satyama Theertha Swami of Uttaradi Math would inaugurate the Suvarna Gopura on May 31 at 9am and Vishwesha Theetha Swamiji of Pejawar Math would be presiding over the inaugural programme. A host of seminars, religious and cultural programmes would mark the dedication porogramme of the Suvarna Gopura.
