He inaugurated ‘Kanakabhiyana’- the lecture and quiz program on the life and literature of Kanakadasa at the adopted schools of Mangalore University on Tuesday. “Understanding the poet makes Kanaka Jayanti celebration meaningful. From the bitterness of defeat, the warrior named Timmappa Nayaka became Kanakadasa. We must accept the challenges and find new ways of achievement,” he added.
Chief Guest, Shri Ramakrishna High School Administrative Board President Jayarama Alva, advised students to be humble and engaged in social work. Mangalore University School Adoption Scheme coordinator Dr. Prashanth Naik opined that Kanakadasa is alive with his great strides in the path of devotion, and with his thoughts.
Ramakrishna Aided High School Headmistress Ushalatha presided over the function. Kanakadasa Research Centre Coordinator Dr. Dhananjaya Kumble delivered the inaugural address. Yakshagana artist, Posakural Media Director Vidhyadar Shetty was present. Teacher Krishana Shasthri welcomed the guests. Nodal Officer, Mangalore University Assistant Professor Sabitha delivered vote of thanks. Thyagam Harekala mastered the ceremony.
The 'Kanakabhiyana' series of lectures and quiz on the life and literature of Kanakadasa will be held at ten schools adopted by Mangalore University.
