Mumbai: Cocaine worth Rs 62.6 crore has been seized at the international airport here, and an Indian woman has been arrested by the Revenue Intelligence Department officials in this regard.
The arrested woman had arrived in Mumbai from Doha on July 14. During this, on the basis of intelligence information, when the DRI officials conducted an inspection, 6 biscuit boxes and three chocolate boxes were found. Capsules filled with a white powdery substance said to be cocaine were found in these 9 boxes.
When the found substance was tested using kits on the spot, it was confirmed that it was cocaine. Through this, 300 capsules containing 6,261 grams of cocaine worth about Rs 62.6 crore were seized. The woman has been arrested under the Narcotics Control Act, 1985 and is being questioned by the authorities.
Earlier on July 8, DRI officials had seized high-grade hydroponic cannabis worth around Rs 12 crore at the Tiruchi International Airport. During the inspection, 28 neatly packed bags of the drug were seized.
