62 people were killed and more than 700 injured in an earthquake in Cianjar, Java province, Indonesia.

The death toll is still feared to rise. It has been learned that the experience of the earthquake, which measured 5.6 on the Richter scale, was 400 kilometers away in the capital city of Jakarta.
Almost 1,000 houses were destroyed in the earthquake. Damage to hospitals and clinics also hampered the treatment of the injured.
