Mangalore: The autobiography of a lifelong teetotaler, detailing the struggles of resisting temptations and leading a life free from intoxicants, is a timely and truthful record of its era, said the Most Reverend Dr. Peter Paul Saldanha, Bishop of Mangalore.
He was speaking at the launch of the biography of senior journalist and multilingual writer Raymond D'Cunha Taccode.
The Bishop praised the work, noting that it shows how a journalist with experience in agriculture and business can use literature as a tool to influence and educate society.
The event began with best wishes from Albert D'Almeida, Manager of Padmashree Gas Agency, Moodbidri.
In his address, Raymond D'Cunha Taccode remarked, “Writers don’t need to speak—our books do the talking. We are like coconut trees; no matter the obstacles, we keep growing skyward and never stop bearing fruit.”
The event was graced by newly elected ICYM Mangalore unit president Vijay Cardoza; Mand Sobhan President Louis J. Pinto; St. Ann's Friary Superior Fr. Gerald Lobo; Designated KNS President Fr. Rocky D'Cunha; senior Konkani writer Naveen Kulshaker; Congress leader and lawyer Shalet Pinto; and Writer Jossy Pinto.
The ceremony began with a Holy Eucharistic Celebration led by the Most Rev. Dr. Aloysius Paul D'Souza, emeritus Bishop of Mangalore as main celebrant, con-celebrated by Fr. Gerald Lobo, Fr. Maxim Rosario, and Fr. Felix Montero.
Riana D'Cunha welcomed the guests and hosted the event. Elias Fernandes delivered the vote of thanks.
