Mangalore : Cloth bags have become a popular alternative to plastic bags which are non-biodegradable and paper shopping bags which cannot be reused for long.  Cloth bags are capable of carrying more things, made of biodegradable material, do not pollute our environment and can be reused for a long time.

A month’s training in cloth bag making was inaugurated at CODP Mangalore. The course is organized by CODP® Mangaluru in collaboration with CEI, Italy. Fr Oswald Monteiro, Director of CODP welcomed the trainees and delivered the keynote address.Joseph K.P., the Tailoring Instructor, explained in brief regarding cloth bags; the requirements, dimensions and how to go about it.

Lenet Gonsalves, Program Manager of CODP, explained the importance of using cloth bags and its eco-friendly nature.  She also took the opportunity to explain about how best one can manage the existing plastic waste by building bottle brick benches, and other similar structures.
