Mangalore: The Student Council for the academic year 2024-2025 was officially inaugurated on August 7, 2024, in a ceremony held at the college auditorium. The event was graced by esteemed guests, including IQAC Coordinators Prof. Dr. Saritha Dsouza and Dr. Rosa Nimmy Mathew, Controller of Examinations Prof. Cecelia Farida Goveas, Dean of PG Studies Dr. Meena Monteiro, Dean of Research Dr. Sebastin KV, and various Student Welfare Officers from different departments.
The ceremony began with a heartfelt prayer performed by the choir from the Criminology and Forensic Science Department. Following this, Prof. Cecilia Goveas addressed the newly formed Student Council and the audience, sharing an inspiring anecdote that highlighted essential leadership qualities such as patience and the ability to transform crises into opportunities for growth.
Thani Anwar, Student Welfare Officer of the M.Sc. Counselling Department, spoke about the significance of the Student Council and its objectives, emphasizing its role in fostering student engagement and welfare.
As part of the inauguration, Niketh, the Student Welfare Officer of the Criminology and Forensic Science Department, announced the names of the Student Council members, who then took their places on stage. To underscore the importance of their responsibilities, a candle-lit oath-taking ceremony was conducted by Dr. Meena Monteiro.
The newly elected PG Convener, Anushka Kunder, assured attendees of the council's commitment to serving the needs of all students with honesty and diligence.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Ronika Lohith, Convener of the Family Cosmos Forum, marking a successful start to the new academic year for the Student Council.
