Mangalore, May 28: Famous and noted writer of Konkani Literature Cyril G Sequeira paases away today on Saturday May 28. He was 71. 

He was the King of Konkani humor liteature, known as CGS Taccode.

CGS started his literature works from the age of 12. He was the Sub Editor of Rakno, Later worked as editor of ‘Kannik’ and ‘Umallo’ Konkani periodicals, but he was well known for his humor writings in Konkani.

CGS was conferred awards by Konkani Basha Mandal, Goa, Daiji Dubai, Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy, Sandesha, and Konkani Kutam Bahrain, and also received Konkani Sahitya Academy Honorary Award.

'Pattedarachem Sahas', 'Khunyegarachi Khun', and 'Sister Shobha' were his novels. He also brought out many books which were collections of short stories, collection of poems, collection of humorous articles, plays, translated works, religious works, edited works etc. His humour books inlcude 'Fugettyo', 'Fokannam', 'Grahachar', 'Sursuryo', 'Kuchilyo', 'Maskiryo', 'Chirmulyo', 'Hi Hi Dubai', 'Bullbulle', 'Sullsulle', 'Tambddegulle' and 'Choklettam'.

He had written many dramas which include 'Chyar Disancho Saunsar','Diana' 'Haschengi Rodchem?' 'Bhadyachi Bail' 'Gongo' 'Raan Dukor' 'Kutmacho Ters' 'Moinyachi Poili' 'Tarik' and 'Mori Magdalen' His collections of poetry are 'Izmolachi Vattli' and 'Kulkulo'.

He is survived by wife Sylvia and children Vijesh and Vijetha and their families.

The funeral will be held on Sunday 29th May, Mortal remains will be kept for public viewing from 3.30 pm to 4 pm followed by mass at St. Vincent Ferrer Church Valencia Mangalore.
