Mangaluru: The Vanamahotsava Day, aimed to promote awareness about the importance of trees and inspire students to actively participate in environmental conservation was celebrated with reverence at St. Agnes High School, Mangaluru.

The program was hosted by class 10B under the guidance of Tr. Dimple. The event was ushered in with a devout prayer service seeking blessings for Mother Earth. The welcome address was delivered by Iffah, who warmly greeted the Headmistress, staff, and students. Our linguistic diversity and love for nature, was presented by melodious songs in English, Hindi, and Kannada. A thought-provoking English skit titled “The Tree Spirit” was enacted by students. It gave the message of the urgent need to plant and protects trees. The group of dancers dressed in light modern attire, with expressive movements performed a contemporary dance to depict the life of a tree and its connection to the ecosystem.

One of the most engaging events was the Tree Fashion Show, where students represented different trees—Coconut, Peepal, Neem and Mango—with simple costumes and informative narrations. Each participant shared facts about their chosen tree, highlighting their medicinal, cultural, and environmental importance. An interactive quiz competition was conducted, testing student’s knowledge about trees. The audience participated enthusiastically and received a chocolate as a treat for the right answers. The Headmistress, Sr. Gloria A.C addressed the students, wherein she emphasized the importance of nurturing green spaces. She encouraged students to plant at least one sapling and take responsibility for its care. On behalf of class 10B, Chinmayi, expressed gratitude to the Headmistress, teachers, and the students for encouraging the class performance. The entire programme was smoothly anchored by the talented MC’s Fiona and Prithvick Sai.
