Puttur: In a commendable initiative to promote cleanliness and environmental responsibility, the National Service Scheme (NSS) Units of St Philomena College (Autonomous) organized a cleanliness drive under the motto ‘Swachatha Hi Seva’ on Saturday. The campaign covered the stretch from the college bus stand to Darbe Circle, aiming to create awareness among the local community about the importance of a clean environment.

Under the guidance of NSS Program Officers, Dr Chandrasekhar K and Pushpa N, students actively participated in the drive. The efforts of the NSS secretary, unit leaders, and numerous volunteers were instrumental in ensuring the success of the program.

The initiative aligns with the broader national objectives of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, aiming to instil a sense of civic responsibility among the youth. The NSS Units of the College has consistently engaged in such impactful activities, reinforcing their commitment to community service and environmental care.

Volunteers were seen enthusiastically cleaning the streets, picking up litter, and educating passers-by about the importance of maintaining hygiene in public spaces. Their actions served as a reminder that collective efforts, no matter how small, can bring about meaningful change in society.
