Today's Word

Luke 11:27-28

While Jesus was speaking, a woman from the crowd called out and said to him, “Blessed is the womb that carried you and the breasts at which you nursed.” He replied, “Rather, blessed are those who hear the word of God and observe it.”*

Today's Reflection

As Christians, we believe that the Bible contains the Word of God.

So we must read the Bible and also study it so that we will have a good understanding of what it means.

With a proper understanding and interpretation, we will live our lives with the guidance from the Word of God that is found in the Bible.

That is why Jesus said that we will be blessed when we hear or read the Word of God and keep it.

In the 1st reading, the Word of God gave the people hope that the Lord God will save them from their enemies and protect them.

The Lord God is also telling us that He is our Lord and God.

May we be His faithful people and live according to His Word.

Today’s Gospel must be the Shortest in the Lectionary, just 2 Verses Long. This Brief Exchange between JESUS & a Nameless Woman is Reported only by St Luke. Women Feature so Prominently in Luke’s Gospel as to Suggest that He Took Particular Note of Anything about Them in the Stories He Heard about JESUS, as He Researched His Work. Of All the Evangelists, He Offers the Best Balance between Male & Female Disciples. On This Particular Occasion, a Woman was so Impressed by JESUS that She Spontaneously Burst Out with a Word of Praise for JESUS' Mother, whom She Declared as Highly Blessed, for Being the Mother of such a Son.

While JESUS had the Highest Regard for HIS Mother, HE Transferred This Word of Praise to a much Wider Group. Even Happier & More Blessed than HIS Own Mother are Those who Hear the WORD of GOD & Keep It, HE Says. Of Course, JESUS' Mother Belonged to that Wider Group. She, more than Anyone Else, Heard the WORD of GOD & Kept It. Mary’s Blessedness is Due Especially to Giving Herself Over to Hearing & Doing GOD'S WORD. To that WORD Her

Lifelong Answer was, “Let It Be to me According to Your WORD.” If like Her, We Devote Ourselves to Hearing & Doing GOD'S WORD, We will be Blessed just as She is.

GOD BLESS YOU

Good morning. Have a nice safe day and a fruitful weekend.
