Today's Gospel verses

 Luke 8:19-21

Now Jesus’ mother and brothers came to see him, but they were not able to get near him because of the crowd.  Someone told him, “Your mother and brothers are standing outside, wanting to see you.”

He replied, “My mother and brothers are those who hear God’s word and put it into practice.”

Today's Reflection

In life, we need to have some control over some immediate events.

It may not be for the future which has so much uncertainties, but at least for the near future, so that there can be some stability in our lives.

Yes, we need to plan for our near future and that is a responsibility to ourselves.

But the 1st reading from

Proverbs 21:2 we read

People may be right in their own eyes but the  Lord examines their heart.

It's amazing how we actually rationalize and justify every single thing we do in the name of SELF / I

Even if we are wrong, we Convince ourselves that we are doing it right.

If Christ and obedience to Him is our goal in life.

If the Holy Spirit dwells in us.

If our names are written in the lamb's  book of life.....

Then we have an assurance that God is working in and through us to work all things together for our good.

He is working to bring us to an expected and glorious end in Christ Jesus.

Our desire should not be to live to please ourselves, but to please God.

When we desire to please God the motives of our hearts are lead by His hands.

In Proverbs 16:9....the WOG says.... we plan our ways but God decides which direction we take

In the gospel, the family and relatives of Jesus couldn’t quite understand the change in Him and in what He was doing and they wanted to see Him.

But Jesus said that those who hear the Word of God and put it into practice are His mother and brothers.

May the Word of God soften our hearts so that our hearts will be like flowing water in the hands of God who turns it where He pleases.

When our hearts are in the hands of God, we will have true freedom and feel the joy of life.

As we read today's reading..... let us ask ourselves 2 questions.

1. What is the attitude of my heart ?

2. What is the motivation of my heart ?

   GOD BLESS YOU

Good morning. Have a nice day.
