Udupi: The extinction of that language is about to begin with the disdain of people who speak the language. The people should be proud of their native language, said the Minister of State for Kannada and Culture, CT. Ravi.

The minister C T Ravi was speaking after inaugurating the Silver Jubilee celebration of the Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy held at SVT Educational Institutions at Karkala on Saturday, February 22.

He said that Language and Culture as two faces of the same coin, the survival of the language will be refined, there are 1200 languages in India, and none of these languages are a complement to one's development. There is a feeling of unity despite the linguistic diversity of the country, the Konkani language has been raised by Kannada, but the infatuation of the English language of the people has caused the endangering of regional languages, he said.

However, Minister Ravi said the language and culture should be passed on to the next generation by saving the language from their homes, while maintaining goodwill in their language.

During theprogram honored 25 Konkani language achievers in various fields.
