Jalandhar, July 15: The world's oldest marathon runner Fauja Singh has died in an accident. He was 114 years old.
Fauja Singh was seriously injured after being hit by a car while walking near his home in Jalandhar, Punjab on Monday evening. He was immediately admitted to the hospital. Due to failure of treatment he died.
It is learned that Fauja Singh's children live abroad, so the last rites will be performed after he returns to Punjab.
Age has never been a barrier to achievement for Fauja Singh. When he was 89, his son Kuldeep and his wife died in an accident. After that, he became depressed. He decided to join the marathon to fight depression. He inspired millions of people around the world with his perseverance and determination.
