Imphal: Two suspected drug peddlers have been arrested with 35.41 kg of Yaba pills in Manipur's Temple district. The TOB intercepted two vehicles at Yangoubang and during a search, Rs 2.6 lakh in cash and around Rs 3 lakh Yaba pills were recovered, they said.
The vehicle is suspected to be going from Moreh on the India-Myanmar border to Churachandpur, police said. The arrested have been identified as Paojathong Kiplen (30) and Kammi Nsun Kiplen (24). Yaba, which means crazy drug in Thai, is illegal in the country as it contains methamphetamine, a Schedule 2 substance under the Controlled Substances Act.
In another operation, two suspected drug peddlers were arrested with 274.8 kg of ganja from Pattoi in Imphal West district, police said. The arrested have been identified as Kayenham Kennedy Singh (36) and Keesam Sharath Singh (55).
