Madikeri, April 11: Kodagu district police have succeeded in arresting people who were illegally transporting 10 kg 390 grams of ambergris (whale vomit) worth an estimated Rs 10 crore from Kerala for sale. The police conducted a raid in the Virajpet Nagar police station area after receiving information that ambergris (whale vomit) was being illegally transported from Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala for sale.

Shamshuddin.S, (45) M.Nawaz, (54) from Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, V.K.Latish (53) Rijesh.V. (40) Prashant.T (52) from Kannur district, Raghavendra A.V. from Bhadravati, Shivamogga district (48), Balachandra Nayak (55) of Kasaragod, Saju Thamos (58) of Kalikote, Jobis.KK (33) and GJS.M, (40) of Kannur are the arrested accused. 10 kg 390 grams of ambergris (whale vomit) worth approximately Rs. 10 crore, two note counting machines and two cars have been seized from the arrested.

Virajpet DySP Mahesh Kumar.S, CPI Anoop Madappa.P, PSI Pramod.HS, Virajpet police station staff and a team of crime detection personnel raided near Heggala Junction of Betoli village in Virajpet and took the accused into custody along with their belongings, District Superintendent of Police K.Ramarajan informed in a press conference held at his office.
