New Delhi, March 8: An 82-year-old woman, who was denied wheelchair access by Air India staff, collapsed at the airport and was admitted to hospital. It is said that the staff refused to provide this facility even though the woman had reserved a wheel chair beforehand, and the woman is being treated in the intensive care unit due to severe injuries.
After waiting for an hour for a wheel chair, the Lt General's wife started walking at the airport with the help of family members. It is said that she slipped and fell near the airline counter.
The granddaughter alleged that the old woman who fell and got injured was not given first aid. He explained that she was eventually sent to a wheelchair and boarded the plane with bleeding from her lip, head and nose. Lady has been in the hospital for two days and said that the left side of her body has lost strength.
Reacting to the post made by the granddaughter on social media, Air India said, "We are aware of this incident and pray for the woman's speedy recovery. The agency has said that it will provide details soon.
Parul Kanwar, who was last in contact with the family at 2 pm on Friday, explained, "We had booked an Air India flight (AI2600) from Delhi to Bangalore on Tuesday. An 82-year-old grandmother, Raj Persecha, was among the passengers. A special request for a wheelchair was made on the ticket to assist her to the plane door."
