Bantwal: On the first day of Ramadan, a new borewell was inaugurated in Serkala Ward, Kolnad Gram Panchayat, Bantwal Taluk, by the Jamaat-e-Islami Hind Social Service Unit, Mangalore. This initiative came after months of the community in Serkala Ward struggling with access to clean drinking water, despite numerous complaints to the local panchayat that remained unaddressed.
In response to the urgent need, activists from Jamaat-e-Islami Hind visited the area, assessed the situation, and managed to arrange for the installation of a borewell within a single day.
Janab Mohammad Kunhi, the state secretary of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, officially inaugurated the borewell, highlighting the importance of serving humanity and responding to the needs of people as one of the most virtuous deeds in the eyes of Allah. He further mentioned that Jamaat-e-Islami Hind has consistently been dedicated to humanitarian work throughout its history.
The event was attended by notable guests, including retired soldier Gopalakrishna Bhat, former president of Lions Club BalaKrishna Serkala, Kolnad Gram Panchayat Vice President Asma Hasaina, and Serkala Ward Member Savitha, all of whom praised Jamaat-e-Islami Hind for its prompt action and community service.
Also present at the inauguration were Abdul Wahid, Mangalore coordinator of the Jamaat-e-Islami Hind Social Service Unit, as well as members Hussein Bashir, Shamshir Melkar, Mohammad Kalladka, and social activist Hasainar Thalithanooji.
