Bengaluru: Chiranthan Honnapur of Aryan Presidency School, Nagarabavi, who fought bone cancer for a year, has now passed the Class 10 ICSE board exam with distinction by scoring 92 percent.
He was diagnosed with bone cancer while studying in Class 9. He could not go to school for the entire year to fight cancer. The cancer-affected bone in his right writing hand was surgically removed. However, with the help of a writer, he managed to clear the Class 9 exam and scored 82 percent.
The special classes for Class 10 started immediately after the Class 9 results. However, he was unable to attend classes for about three months as he had to be hospitalized for cancer treatment.
Without going to any home lessons, he studied with full dedication, taking lessons, guidance and encouragement from teachers at school. He used to listen to live lessons that were broadcasted from time to time on social media channels.
Chiranthan, who accepted the sudden medical challenge that was thrown at him in life with maturity despite his young age, did not get discouraged and moved forward with optimism and scored good marks, which is an example for other students.
He wants to become an IPS officer by writing the UPSC exam after completing his law degree. Therefore, he has decided to study commerce in PUC, says Chiranthan. He scored 88 in English language, 89 in English literature, 99 in Kannada, 88 in History and Civics, 90 in Geography, 85 in Mathematics, 89 in Physics, 86 in Chemistry, 96 in Biology, and 93 in Computer Applications. He has also secured an A grade in Community Service.
The school teachers and his parents have expressed their happiness and congratulated Chiranthan for this achievement. Chiranthan's achievement is truly inspiring for the next young generation.
