Mangalore, October 07: - Yakshagana artists should not lose their careers According to tradition, with all appropriate precautions, Yakshagana will be displayed throughout the district by the end of November, said Mujurai Minister Kota Srinivasa Poojary.

Addressing a gathering on October 5, Tuesday of the Yakshagana Fairs in the district, he said covid has put many Yakshagana artists in trouble, promising to take immediate financial assistance from the government without injustice to any artist.

Dakshina Kannada district has more than 20 professional tekkuttuksha yakshagana fairs, including Keteel, Bappanadu, Sasihitlu, and more than a thousand artists and ancillary workers. The Yakshagana Excursion will begin at the end of November and as per the Government's guidelines, the Yakshagana Artists should undergo a mandatory corona test before the start of the year. In addition to this, mandatory covid testing should be done once a week at Yakshagana fairs. All artists must be mentally and physically prepared with new enthusiasm.

He said that the Department of Kannada and Cultural Affairs and the Religious Endowment Department should jointly obtain information from the Yakshagana Academy and recorded the names of the artists.

DK District Collector Speaking to Dr. Rajendra KV, he said, the precautionary measure should be strictly exceeded by 200 people before the Yakshagana commences in the plains. He said the people should be sanitized around the area and that the public should maintain a social gap and make mandatory face covering.

Shri Hari Asarna, Administrator Moktesara of Kateel temple, said that the six ensembles of Kateel are set to go on schedule. Many people, including the Bappanadu and Sasihitlu fairs, explained the problems of artists and professional elites during the corona.

Speaking at the meeting, Ujire Ashok Bhatt of the Yakshagana team said that the Yakshagana performances usually will begin in May, but this year many of the pre-booked Yakshagana performances have been canceled due to the coronavirus. He said that it is a big challenge we have only bension yakshgana not have any other Yakshagana performances.

Religious charitable endorsement officer Venkatesh, Rajesh, deputy director of Kannada and culture, from artist side Patel Satish Shetty, Sarapadi Ashok Shetty, Rajyotsava award winner Sitaram Kulal and Yakshagana team convener and artists were present.
