Mangalore:  D. Dharmaiah (71), who had retired as DCP (Crime-Traffic) of Mangaluru, passed away due to a heart attack at his residence in Benduruvel, Mangaluru on the evening of September 24.

Originally from Hosur in Sakleshpur taluk of Hassan district, Dharmaiah started his service life as a Sub-Inspector (SI) in Mysore city. Later, he served in Yalandur, Chamarajanagar, Virajpet police stations and worked as a Circle Inspector in Belthangady, Karkala and Udupi. Later, he served as a DySP and later as an ACP in Bengaluru.

He held the post of DCP (Crime and Traffic Division) in Mangalore and retired in 2013 and later resided in Mangalore.

He is survived by his wife, a daughter, two sons and four grandchildren.
