Gariaband: Seven Maoist cadres surrendered in Chhattisgarh's Gariaband district on Friday, police officials said.

The seven Maoists, including four women, belong to the Udanti Pradesh Samiti of the banned Communist Party of India (Maoist), Raipur Range Inspector General of Police Amaresh Mishra said.
The Udanti Pradesh Samiti is a key organisation carrying out Maoist activities in Gariaband and Dhamtari districts and adjoining districts of Odisha, he said.
The surrendered Naxals have handed over six weapons, including a self-loading rifle, three INSAS rifles and two country-made guns, he said.
According to the police statement, the surrendered militants, Sunil alias Jagtar Singh and his wife Arina Tekam alias Sugaro, hailing from Kurukshetra district of Haryana, were active as divisional committee member and secretary of Udanti Pradesh Samiti respectively. A reward of Rs 8 lakh each was announced on their heads, while a total reward of Rs 37 lakh was announced on the heads of the surrendered Naxals.
