Mangaluru: In recognition of their dedication and service, the state government has announced several key appointments for leaders from the Congress party in Dakshina Kannada.
K. Harish Kumar, President of the Dakshina Kannada District Congress Committee, has been appointed as the President of MESCOM. M. A. Gafoor has been named the President of the Coastal Development Authority, and Mudradi Manjunath Poojary will now serve as the President of the Narayanaguru Development Authority.
In another notable appointment, Shalet Pinto from Kinnigoli has been selected as the Chairperson of the Karnataka Eco-Tourism Development Board. The Congress party has warmly welcomed this decision, highlighting her unique capabilities and experience in public service and grassroots development.
Shalet Pinto, originally from Anjalore Church, is the daughter of Ambos Vas and Leena Vas. She completed her B.A. and L.L.B. from SDM Law College. She is married to Jossie Pinto of Kinnigoli, who has held several key positions in the Congress, including General Secretary of the Mulki Block Youth Congress and President of the Kinnigoli Wallaya Congress.
Shalet Pinto’s political journey began with her election as a Zilla Panchayat Member and Vice President in 1997. In 2015, she was elected President of the Dakshina Kannada District Mahila Congress, a role in which she has worked consistently for nearly a decade to strengthen the party across the region.
Recognizing her unwavering commitment, integrity, and contributions to the party, the state government has now entrusted her with this new responsibility.
