The ICYM Nirkan Unit organized a vibrant monsoon-themed event titled “ಪಾವ್ಸಾ ಕಾಳಾರ್ ಮಸ್ತಿ” “PAVSA KALAR MASTHI” on 27th July 2025 at 10:00 AM at the St Thomas Higher Primary School Ground, Nirkan. 

All six participating teams, namely Pink, Red, Yellow, Orange, Blue, and Green, were then invited onto the ground. Thereafter, the stage program commenced with a prayer song by the ICYM members. Arwin Fernandes, President of the ICYM Nirkan Unit, delivered the welcome speech, and the dignitaries were welcomed with roses as a gesture of respect.

The inauguration program was graced by Rev. Fr. Anil Roshan Lobo, Parish Priest and Director of ICYM Nirkan, who presided over the event as the President of the event. He was accompanied by Vincent Bennis, Vice President of the PPC and Animator of ICYM Nirkan; Shanti Veigas, Secretary of the PPC; Sr. Severine Fernandes, Superior of Holy Family Bethany Convent, Nirkan, and Headmistress of St. Thomas School, Nirkan-Vogga; Renita Cardoza, Secretary of ICYM Bantwal Deanery; Primal Pinto, PRO and AMCHO YUVAK Representative of ICYM Bantwal Deanery, as well as Representative of the ICYM Nirkan Unit from Bantwal Deanery; and Br. Rakesh; Arwin Fernandes, President of ICYM Nirkan Unit & Melvita Crasta, Secretary of ICYM Nirkan Unit.

Rev. Fr. Anil Roshan Lobo inaugurated the program by unveiling the trophies and addressed the gathering with an inaugural speech, extending his best wishes to all the participants. Mementos were then presented to the guests as a token of gratitude. 

The inaugural stage program concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Keerthana Lobo, Joint Secretary of ICYM Nirkan Unit.

The competitions then commenced, featuring a variety of exciting games. Some of the highlights included the Coconut Relay, Pipe Voipu, Lorry Pull, Water Balloon Cricket, Water Balloon Catch, Sponge Passing Race, and many more. Referees and volunteers ensured the smooth coordination of all the games. The games were thoughtfully divided according to age groups, ensuring fair play and maximum enjoyment for all participants. Separate events were organized for children, youth, and adults, allowing everyone to actively participate and showcase their skills while fostering a spirit of healthy competition.

In the afternoon, a rain dance was held. Everyone danced and enjoyed the rain together. It was full of fun and happiness

After the lunch, the ICYM Nirkan Unit members performed a lively flash mob, dancing and celebrating joyfully with the crowd in the rain. 

During the event, Melroy Prem D’Souza, Vice President of ICYM Mangalore Diocesan Central Council; Prem Jeethan Pinto, President of ICYM Bantwal Deanery; and Sneha Gomes from Red Drop and others visited ICYM Nirkan.

The closing ceremony of Pavsa Kalar Masthi 2025 was held at 5:00 p.m. in the evening in the presence of Rev. Fr. Robert D’Souza, Director of ICYM Bantwal Deanery, who delivered an inspiring address ahead of the prize distribution, along with Alphonse Fernandes, Founder President of ICYM Nirkan, and Austin Lobo, Coordinator of All Commissions.


Team Orange were crowned the overall champions, while Team Yellow finished as the runners-up. Both teams were honored with trophies and prizes during the closing ceremony, recognizing their outstanding performance and sportsmanship throughout the day. The event concluded with a group photo featuring all the participants.

The vote of thanks was delivered by Melvita Crasta, Secretary of the ICYM Nirkan Unit, who expressed gratitude to everyone who supported the event financially and by lending a helping hand in the preparations. 

The day began with breakfast for all participants and guests, creating a cheerful and welcoming start to the event. The event ended on a lively note with a joyful Baila Dance, leaving the participants with cherished memories of the day.
