Moodbidri, July 15: A new park named after Swami Vivekananda was officially inaugurated today in Gandhinagar, part of Ward 6 in Marpadi village under the Moodbidri Municipality. The park has been developed at a cost of ₹20.68 lakhs with a special grant from MLA Umanath Kotian.
MLA Kotian inaugurated the park in the presence of Municipal President Jayashree and Ward Member Divya Jagadeesh. Local residents played a vital role in supporting the development of the park, which aims to provide a green and peaceful recreational space for the community.
As part of the inauguration ceremony, President Jayashree planted a sapling, marking the beginning of a beautification drive that includes planting fruit-bearing trees and enhancing greenery within the park.
Speaking at the event, MLA Umanath Kotian highlighted the importance of green spaces in urban areas, stating that they contribute significantly to a cleaner environment and better air quality.
The initiative has been welcomed by local residents, who believe the park will serve as a much-needed space for relaxation, community activities, and promoting environmental awareness.
