Kalmady : The nine-day novena prayers in preparation of the proclamation and Dedication of Our Lady of Vailankanni centre at Kalmady as a diocesan Shrine, began on Saturday, August 6. Most Rev. Fr Valerian Mendonca, Rector of the Our Lady of Miracles Cathedral, Kallianpura hoisted the flag and conducted the novena prayers on the first day.
Feast of Our Lady of Vailankanni, proclamation and dedication of Our Lady of Vailanknni as a diocesan Shrine and the Golden Jubilee Celebration of Stella Maris Church, Kalmady will be celebrated on August 15th, 2022.
On August 14th at 2:45 pm, procession of Car (Cherel) of Our Lady of Vailankanni will begin from Adi-Udupi junction to Kalmady Church, on that day Most Rev. Fr Ronald Serao, Rector of St. Joseph Seminary will conduct the novena prayers and celebrate the Mass.
The Our Lady of Vailankanni Centre at Kalmady will be officially declared as Udupi Diocesan Shrine on 15th August 2022 at 10:00 am, through a thanks giving Eucharistic Mass celebrated by Most Rev. Dr Aloysius Paul D’Souza, and con-celebrated by

Novena prayers will be held daily at 4:00 pm. A large number of devotees took part in the novena prayers on the first day. Rev. Fr Stephen Lewis, parish priest of Manipal Church and Fr Roshan, assistant parish priest of Brahmavar were the con-celebrants. The choir was from St. Anne’s Church, Thottam.
