53 fresh Covid cases in Udupi, Karnataka reports 2,738 fresh infections, 73 deaths .Dr K Sudhakar medical Education Minister has a different take on the mounting fatalities . He told reporters that 75% of deaths were due to non Covid reasons.
Monday reported Udupi district, a total 0f 53 fresh positive cases.Thus total number of cases reported till date is 1661
Out of 53 covid positive in Udupi 18 are women, 31 are men and four are children. Those among 27 from Udupi district , Kundapura taluka 23 people and three from Karkala taluka .A total of 34 people are admitted in isolation wards for observation. There are 1,749 swab samples are still pending for reports.
As per record 1280people have recovered and have been discharged from hospitals. 378 persons are undergoing treatment at various hospitals. And 19,123 samples have tested negative out of 22,533; the district administration announced.
Monday Karnataka recorded its second biggest single day spike of 2738 infections of covid 19.The tally swelled to 41581. Bangalore urban continued to see a fresh cases in the last 24 hours.
The state saw a big jump in Covid fatalities at 73.The death toll was reached to 757.

Minister said ‘’A lot of people are surprised that state’s deaths have mounted to 757. I can assure everyone that only 25% of these deaths have been caused due to Covid19, the rest 75% were for non Covid reasons. The death audit committee report should clear that up in next two or three days .if patient is already suffering from life – threatening condition like cancer , he or she will succumb to Covid faster’’, it may be recalled that the central team that visited state for inspection had asked the state to bring down the mortality rate below one percent.
Later on he said the covid fatality rate in state was 1.82% and 1.63% in Bangalore.
