Mangalore, July 21: A PSI of Bantwal Rural Police Station in Dakshina Kannada district has committed suicide.
PSI Keerappa Gatakambali committed suicide by hanging himself at his rented house in Bantwala town. The PSI, who was absent from duty yesterday morning, was at home. Police station staff called him but did not receive his call. When he went to his rented house in the evening, it came to light that he had committed suicide by hanging himself. Senior police officers visited the spot and inspected it.
Keerappa Gatakambali, who was a PSI of Bantwal Rural Police Station, was at a rented house in Bantwala town. Keerappa Gatakambali, 54, a resident of Karwar in Uttara Kannada district, lived alone in a rented house here. His entire family was in Karwar. He was transferred from Sirsi Police Station to Bantwal Rural Police Station just 5 months ago and was working as a PSI in the Bantwal Investigation Department. The reason for his suicide is not known.
