Kalaburagi, July 21: Thick smoke was seen in a coach of the Hassan-Solapur Superfast Express train this morning, creating panic for some time.
The incident took place around 5:45 am near Marathur village in Kalaburagi district, when train number 11312 was going to Solapur, railway sources said.
Passengers reportedly panicked after thick smoke was seen coming out of the coach. According to railway officials, thick smoke was seen coming out of the brake binding of the fourth coach due to a technical fault.
Railway staff at Marathur noticed the problem and immediately ordered the train to be stopped. When the train stopped, panicked passengers hurriedly got out with their luggage fearing fire. However, the railway staff quickly resolved the problem, averting casualties and damage. Authorities have launched a technical investigation to determine the cause of the malfunction.
