Allipade, Bantwala:  The Annual Sports Day for the academic year 2024-25 at St. Antony English Medium School commenced with considerable enthusiasm on the school grounds. 

The event was graced by notable dignitaries, including: Father Fredrick Monteiro, Chief Guest, Sister Narcissa Sequeira, Guest of Honour, Fr. Robert Dsouza, Correspondent of both schools, Naveen Moras, President of the Church Parish Council, Purushottam, Vice President of SDMC, Kiran Narona, Secretary of the Parish Council, Sr. Lavina Veigas, Headmistress of the English Medium School, Vinoda Kumari, Headmistress of the Kannada Medium School, Vincent Pinto, Management Committee Member.

The guests were respectfully welcomed with a grand escort by the school band and students who lined the pathway, signifying their reverence for the distinguished attendees.

The program commenced with a solemn prayer song, succeeded by the rendition of the State Anthem, which effectively set a patriotic tone for this inspiring event.

Fr. Fredrick Monteiro officially inaugurated the Annual Sports Day by hoisting the flag, accompanied by other dignitaries. He enthusiastically declared the event open, marking the commencement of various sports activities.

Following the opening declaration, the four school houses—Tagore, Gandhi, Subhash, and Nehru—marched in a synchronized manner, their movements harmonizing with the lively drumbeat, thereby fostering an energetic atmosphere conducive to the day’s events.

Rev. Fr. Fredrick Monteiro ignited the sports torch, symbolizing the essence of sportsmanship and teamwork, in coordination with the captains of each house.

The oath-taking ceremony, conducted by Headmistress Sr. Lavina Veigas, involved a collective commitment from participants to adhere to the day’s regulations and principles.

The Chief Guest was recognized for his exemplary contributions to the school during his tenure. During his address, he shared motivational insights and words of encouragement aimed at inspiring the students.

The students showcased their physical prowess through drills, utilizing various props. Their teamwork and energy significantly contributed to the overall enjoyment of the Annual Sports Day.

The Correspondent delivered an encouraging message, urging students to engage actively in the events, appreciate the experience, and strive for excellence. He emphasized the importance of learning from participation rather than solely focusing on winning, encouraging a perspective centered on growth and enjoyment.

Notable achievements were recognized during the event, with Sanvi and Pranav being honored for securing 1st place at the taluk level in Prathiba Karanji and athletics, respectively.

A diverse range of sports events ensued, including running races, shot put, relays, and team games, which incited considerable enthusiasm and joy among the participants.

Under the proactive leadership of the Headmistress, both teaching and non-teaching staff worked diligently to ensure the smooth execution of the event, providing unwavering support to the students as they endeavored to perform to the best of their abilities.
