Mangalore: The Twentieth Graduation Ceremony of St Joseph Engineering College (SJEC), Mangaluru, was held on 20September 2025 in the Kalam Auditorium of the college in two different sessions. The ceremony witnessed the awarding of Graduation Certificates by the institution to the Class of 2025 comprising 580Undergraduates (BE)& 4 Ph. D graduates in two different sessions.
Dr Suresh H Jangamshetti, Vice Chancellor, Haveri University & Prof KNS Acharya, Pro- Vice Chancellor, GITAM Deemed to be University, Bengaluru Campus graced the occasion as Chief Guest and presented the degree certificates to the graduands. Lyvia Cardoza, Associate Director – WNS Analytics & Anup D’Silva, Director and shareholder, Techno Links Global FZ LLC were the Guest of Honour on the occasion. Most Rev. Dr Peter Paul Saldanha, Bishop, Diocese of Mangalore and President of SJEC, presided over the ceremony.
Rev. Fr Wilfred Prakash D’Souza, Director of SJEC, welcomed the graduands from the Class of 2025, staffs, parents and dignitaries to the Graduation Ceremony. Dr K Jyothi, Professor &Dean-Student Welfare, introduced the Chief Guest and the Guest of Honour in the morning session and Dr Sudheer M, Professor & Dean Academics introduced the Chief Guest and the Guest of Honour in the evening session.
Lyvia Cardoza, the guest of honour advised graduands to embrace the challenges, celebrate the victories, and always stay curious about the world unfolding before them. She also advised graduates to learn, unlearn and relearn always to keep growing.
Anup D’Silva, mentioned about industrial revolution 4.0& how manufacturing has evolved in recent years. He further mentioned that we need to adopt or we will be left behind. Individuals should develop the ability to adopt, creative skills and ask themselves whether they are ready for the change. He concluded by saying technology will change, but the curiosity should be bold.
Dr Suresh H Jangamshetti, in his address, congratulated the graduates and advised graduates not to compromise with the values, not to take shortcuts to success in life. He praised the college for the discipline matters in the college. He advised graduates to help and serve the poorer community and make innovative projects to improve the life of humans.
Prof KNS Acharya, congratulated the graduates and in his address, he shared the concerns about AI taking over aspects of life. He mentioned that teachers and students has distinct roles but should work together to co-create projects & ideas.He advised graduates to carry courage, curiosity and openness as pathways for learning.
Dr Rio D'Souza, Principal, administered the graduation oath. Charis Pinto, graduand from the Department of Computer Science & Engineering, Sharon Tyana Menezes, graduand from the Department of Intelligent Computing & Business Systems, Havala P N, graduand from the Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering & Sinchana K C, graduand from the Department of Mechanical Engineering were the Valedictorians from the Class of 2025 and delivered the Valedictorian addresses sharing the reflections on the transformative journey of education and gratitude was expressed towards all individuals who contributed to shaping the graduates into who they are today.
Scholastic achievers including Rank holders and Sports achievers were recognized and awarded by Most Rev. Dr Peter Paul Saldanha, Bishop of Mangalore and President of SJEC. Felicitations were done to the Chief guest and guest of honour by the Bishop as a token of Respect and Gratitude.
Delivering the Presidential Address, the Bishop advised graduates to create stress-free life around them and told not to stop learning. He appreciated the values the graduates exhibit during the event and wished them good luck in life.He also said that graduates should be dreamers, dream big andalways stay connected to the alma mater.
Rev. Fr. Kenneth R Crasta, Assistant Director, Dr Purushothama Chippar, Vice Principal, various Deans and HOD’s, Supriya Salian & Ms. Reshma K J, co-convenor, were also present on this occasion. Dr. Subramanya K, Convenor of the event delivered the vote of thanks. Lauline D’Souza, Franco Menezes, Joel D’Mello and Himani Kishan Raj compered the program. SJEC wishes the Graduates from the Class of 2025 all success in their future endeavours.
