Mangalore : The Father Muller Charitable Institutions, Speech and Hearing College, FMCOSH, which caters the Bachelor in Audiology and Speech Language Pathology (BASLP) inaugurated their student council meet 2019-2020. The inaugural was graced by the Director, Rev Fr Richard A Coelho, Administartor FMMCH, Rev Fr Rudolph Ravi D’Sa, Administartor FMMC, Rev Fr Ajith Menezes, Chief of Research, Dr Sanjeev Rai, Professor Akhilesh P M and Shwetha Rasquinha, HOD, Department of Social Works, St. Aloysius College (Autonomous), Mangalore.
The welcome address was given by Professor Akhilesh P M, Principal of FMCOSH and also introduced the chief guest who having completed her MSW from Roshni Nilaya, Mangalore (2003), M Phil from Annamalai University Chennai (2008) and has submitted the Doctoral Thesis in Medical Social Work to Mangalore University and now currently working as HOD, Department of Social Works, St. Aloysius College (Autonomous), Mangalore. She has been a resource person for more than 75 programmes for parents, teachers, youth, children and women – on the issues of Psycho social aspects of life, health, empowerment, having 25 international and national publications to her credit. In her inaugural address Ms Shwetha Rasquinha speaking on the importance of the student leadership, spoke on the importance of the student council and its effects on role building in student leadership. She mentioned that the student leaders are like captains leading a front and also like the bridge in communication with the management. She emphasized the importance of building and sharing confidence in each other for the betterment of the institute. She praised the management for their tireless efforts in inculcation of good principles and values in their student and recalled the affection and discipline showed to her as a two year old by Rev Fr Rudolph D’Sa, then as a parish priest. In her inaugural address Shwetha Rasquinha speaking on the importance of student leadership, said, “You need to accept and Overcome Challenges to Reach Your Goal. If the goal you’ve set is worthwhile, expect some resistance. Any significant goal in your life can only be reached by overcoming challenges along the way. You will succeed if you resolve to rise to the challenge”.
