Mangaluru, January 20: In a significant breakthrough, the Mangaluru City Police have arrested three suspects involved in the daring armed robbery at the Kotekar Vyavasaya Seva Sahakari Sangha (N), Talapady Branch, which occurred on January 17, 2025. The robbery, carried out by masked gunmen, resulted in the theft of valuables worth approximately ₹4 crores, including cash and gold jewelry.
The crime took place between 1:00 PM and 1:20 PM when the masked assailants stormed the bank and held the staff at gunpoint. Following the robbery, the Mangaluru City Police initiated an intense investigation, which led them to the arrest of the main suspects from Padma Neri village near Tamil Nadu.
The arrested suspects are Murugandi Thevar(40) from Tamilnadu, Yosuva Rajendran(35) from Dombivili West, Mumbai & Kannan Mani(36) from Chembur, Mumbai.
Police officials confirmed that the suspects were arrested after a series of coordinated field operations, which also led to the recovery of crucial evidence. Among the items seized were the car used in the robbery, two pistols with live rounds, machetes, and a portion of the stolen cash and gold. The exact value of the recovered loot is yet to be determined, pending a formal inspection.
The suspects are believed to be the masterminds behind the heist, and police are continuing their investigation to track down any remaining accomplices.
A case has been registered under Crime No. 07/2025 at Ullala Police Station, with charges under the Indian Penal Code (IPC), Arms Act, and BNS Act.
