Mangalore: Milagres College of Nursing observed World Hepatitis Day on July 28, 2025, at the college auditorium with the objective of raising awareness about hepatitis, a silent yet serious disease affecting millions worldwide. The event primarily benefitted students from Milagres Central School and first-year B.Sc. Nursing students.

The program commenced with a prayer song, setting a solemn and respectful tone for the occasion. This was followed by a warm welcome address delivered by Vidya Ferrao.

Hanna Anusha then introduced the theme of the day: “Hepatitis: Let's Break It Down.” The theme emphasized the importance of demystifying hepatitis and educating the public on its prevention, transmission, and management.

The keynote address was delivered by the Resource Person, Dr. Rithesh Joseph D’Cunha, Associate Professor at Father Muller Medical College. In his insightful and informative session, Dr. Rithesh light on the global burden of viral hepatitis and underscored the importance of early diagnosis, preventive strategies, and community education.

Dr. Diana Lobo, Principal of Milagres College of Nursing, addressed the audience and stressed the value of observing global health days. She encouraged students to actively engage in such awareness initiatives, fostering a sense of social responsibility and inspiring future nurses to serve as proactive health advocates.

As part of the observance:

•    A poster competition was organized for nursing students, and the winning entries were awarded prizes.

•    An exhibition of informative posters was displayed throughout the college premises to educate students and visitors on the types, symptoms, and preventive measures of hepatitis.

•    First-year B.Sc. Nursing students performed a melodious song focused on the prevention of hepatitis, further spreading awareness through music.

The program was compered by Anshel. The event successfully combined education, creativity, and engagement, reinforcing the college’s commitment to promoting public health awareness and inspiring future nurses to become proactive health advocates.
