Belém, Nov 21: A massive fire broke out at the main hall of the ongoing United Nations Climate Change Summit (COP-30) in Belém, Brazil.

At least 13 people were injured in the fire, with thousands of people fleeing for their lives. The Blue Zone, which houses meetings, negotiations, a media centre and offices of key dignitaries, is the main hall. The fire broke out around 2 pm on Thursday. People present at the venue are said to have fled as the fire spread.

Union Environment Minister Bhupender Yadav was also in the Blue Zone with the Indian delegation when the fire broke out, but he and other officials safely left the venue, a ministry spokesperson told PTI.
All the high-level dignitaries' offices, including the negotiations, media centre and the main assembly hall, are reportedly located there. As soon as news of the fire spread, people rushed out of all the exits for safety, and authorities sealed off the area for a thorough safety check.
