Mijar, moodubidire: A six-day National-Level Continuing Medical Education (CME) program for Naturopathy and Yoga teachers is being organized from December 19 to 25 at the Yoga Hall, Alva’s College of Naturopathy and Yogic Sciences, moodubidire.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Ramachandra Setty, Director of Development and Research at RGUHS, Bengaluru, emphasized the importance of continuous learning for educators. “In today’s tsunami of information, teachers must ask themselves why students should attend their classes. This self-reflection can transform classrooms into hubs of wisdom,” he said. Highlighting the need for training, he added, “Teachers must update themselves to stay relevant. Instead of merely explaining, educators should create experiences that make topics relatable. A questioning classroom encourages growth, and teachers should not shy away from admitting gaps in knowledge, as this builds a genuine learning environment. When this happens, no Google can replace a teacher.”
Dr. K. Sathya Lakshmi, Director of National Institute of Naturopathy, Pune, Ministry of AYUSH, lauded the initiative taken by Alva’s Naturopathy College. “In this ever-evolving world, teachers must embrace change and adapt to emerging technologies. CME programs like this are crucial for their development,” she remarked.
Speaking on the occasion, Alva’s Education Foundation Managing Trustee Vivek Alva underlined the profound role of educators in shaping the future. “Teaching is not a 9-to-5 job but a responsibility of nation-building. Teachers must lead by example, practicing the values they impart to students. This approach fosters individual growth and a positive societal impact,” he said.
Both the dignitaries of the program were honoured by Alva’s Education Foundation.
Dr. Vanitha Shetty, Principal of Alva’s College of Naturopathy. Dr. Manjunath Setty, Principal of Alva’s Pharmacy College, Dr. Roshan Pinto, Principal of Alva’s Homeopathy College, Dr. Archana, Professor of the Department of Yoga were present among others.
