Mangaluru: Milagres Educational Institutions, Hampankatta, Mangaluru, celebrated the 79th Independence Day of India on August 15, 2025, with great enthusiasm and patriotic spirit on the Milagres College campus. The campus was adorned in the vibrant hues of the national flag, and the air was filled with the spirit of unity and pride.
The celebration commenced with the arrival of the dignitaries. The event was graced by Capt. Arul Aranha as the Chief Guest, who unfurled the national flag and addressed the gathering with an inspiring speech on the significance of freedom and the responsibilities of every citizen in nation-building.
The programme was presided over by Rev. Dr. Alwin Serrao, Principal and Campus Director of Milagres College. In his presidential address, he emphasized the importance of education in strengthening the democratic fabric of the country and encouraged students to uphold the values of justice, equality, and fraternity.
Also present on the occasion were Fr. Udaya Fernandes, Principal of Milagres Central School; Melwyn Vas, Principal of the Pre-University College; and Dr. Diana Lobo, Principal of Milagres College of Nursing, along with the management, faculty, and students of the institution. Patriotic songs, cultural performances, and the NCC guard of honour were the main attractions of the event. This was followed by a cleanliness drive conducted by the college students and lecturers.
Sr. Dorethi Dabre welcomed the gathering, Lecturer Manjusha compered the programme, and Dr. Diana Lobo proposed the vote of thanks.
