Washington, Jan 05: The body of Nikita Godishala, a 27-year-old Indian-origin woman, was found in an apartment in Maryland, USA.
Police are searching for Nikita, who went missing on January 2, and now her body has been found in an apartment on Twin Rivers Road in Columbia. Her ex-boyfriend, 26-year-old Arjun Sharma, is suspected to be the accused in this case.
An arrest warrant has been issued for Nikita's ex-boyfriend Arjun, who was charged with murder. Arjun Sharma fled the US to India on the day of the incident, police said.
Nikita Godishala, a resident of Ellicott City, went missing on January 2. Her ex-boyfriend Arjun Sharma had contacted the police to file a missing person complaint.
Sharma had told the police that he last saw Nikita in his apartment on December 31. However, the investigation found Sharma himself as the accused. The police said that Sharma had left for India on the day of the incident.
The police have charged Arjun Sharma with murder. An arrest warrant has been issued. The exact reason for the murder is not yet known. The investigation is ongoing and efforts are being made to bring Sharma back from India.
The Indian Embassy in the US is in touch with the family of Nikita Godishala. It said that it is providing all possible consular assistance. It posted on X that it is in touch with local authorities and is cooperating in the investigation. Nikita Godishala is of Indian origin and was living in the US.
