Thiruvananthapuram,May 24: The under-construction National Highway 66 near Kuriad in Kerala's Malappuram district has partially collapsed, with local officials, engineers and residents pointing to deep problems in the implementation of the project.
Although there was no loss of life in the collapse on May 19, it has raised concerns across the state about the construction of the 644-km-long, six-lane national highway.
A large part of the highway passes through waterlogged, vulnerable terrain. The cracks were clearly visible after a section of the service road in Kasaragod was submerged in water on May 20.
