Mangaluru: On 09th August 2025 Saturday under the leadership of St Francis Xavier Church Bejai Parishioners, Parish pastoral Council Vice President Ashok Pinto and  Catholic Sabha Mangalore Pradesh Bejai Unit  jointly at Bejai Circle - George Fernandes Road Junction, on the out skirts of Bejai Church Premises a ‘Peaceful Protest’ was organised – protesting and condemning the recent attacks on Christian Catholic Priests, nuns, clergy and on Christian community leaders and common Christians all over India. The protests were organised throughout Mangalore - Dakshina Kannada regions too.  

The Parish Priest of Bejai Church and Spiritual Director of Catholic Sabha Mangalore Pradesh Rev Fr J B Saldanha spoke on this occasion and urged the society at large to be sympathetic and concerned towards the rights of Catholic Christian community in our country. He condemned the cowardly attack in groups on Christian priests, nuns and common community members at Odisha recently , Chathigargh, etc places and requested the society, Police department , justice system,  to stand up for the cause of protecting the rights of minorities. He stressed on the point the decent and law abiding citizens of the Nation, Christian community people offer services for all communities without any discrimination and for this we should not be unduly targeted.  

Rohan Lawrence Sequeira President of Catholic  Sabha - Bejai Unit  lead the gathering of protesters and termed the attack on Christian community Priests, Nuns and common community members anywhere in India as direct attack on every community person. He also told the protesters and society at large to give more importance to deliver proper justice and to punish the real culprits, who have attacked the honourable citizens our community members of the India without any wrong doing. He requested a quick and speedy justice system to bring the real culprits to books of law and punish them as early as possible so that this kind of hooliganism does not recur again and again and law of Justice is restored. 

The protesters were holding hoardings and display placards condemning the attack on Christian minorities and prayed for the safety and protection of Christian minorities who live in this country respecting all laws of the land. The protest ended up with a prayer for the betterment of the society all over India and for the prosperity of this great nation. All the members of Catholic Sabha and hundreds of Bejai parishioners took part in this protest.
