Puttur, Aug 7: There has been a decline in the publication of literary works in newspapers recently. Stories and poems are hardly being published anymore, and the interest in reading literature is diminishing, said retired teacher and poet V. B. Kulamarva from Kasaragod.
He was speaking at the inauguration of the interstate "Acharya Poets' Gathering" organized by senior poet Gunaje Ramachandra Bhat for teacher-poets. He spoke about the different genres of poetry and later recited a self-composed poem in the "Eḷe Chandas" meter.
Retired principal and Ghazal poet Dr. Suresh Negalaguli, in his address, said that if poets stay true to their emotions and compose within their own framework, their poetry will be heartfelt. He conveyed his best wishes to all.
Senior journalist Raymond D’Cunha Taccode, poets Ha. Ma. Satish (Bengaluru), K. Purandara Bhat, and Jayaprakash Rao were also present.
National Award-winning teacher Jayananda Peraje presided over the poets’ gathering.
