Puttur: St Philomena College, renowned for fostering innovative thinking, hosted an engaging exhibition of IoT (Internet of Things) models. The event was jointly organized by the Department of Computer Science, the Pinnacle IT Club, and the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC), and it drew enthusiastic participation from students and faculty alike.

The exhibition was inaugurated by the Principal, Rev. Dr Antony Prakash Monteiro, who emphasized the importance of constructive thinking in transforming challenges into opportunities. “Don’t complain about any situation; instead, start thinking constructively. An innovative idea is not the property of any age. From an 8-year-old to an 80-year-old, anyone can innovate. We have seen instances where like-minded people with diverse skills brainstorm together to solve problems in creative ways,” Rev. Dr. Monteiro stated. He encouraged students to pull the conducive learning environment at the college to seek out solutions that contribute positively to society, rather than inadvertently creating new problems. “The ideas born in this small room could potentially grow into future businesses,” he added, commending the organizers for their strategic planning of the exhibition.

The students of the BCA Department presented over fifteen meticulously crafted models, each embodying the essence of IoT technology. These models, created with a focus on societal benefits, were judged by Assistant Professor Abhishek Suvarna from the Department of Business Administration, who also serves as the Deputy Registrar of Examinations of the college, and Poojashree V Rai, Assistant Professor from the Department of Physics. The judges evaluated the models based on their innovation, practical application, and potential impact.

The program began with a prayer led by Anusha Bhargavi and her team. Assistant Professor Vinayachandra, Dean, Head of the Computer Science Department, and Registrar (Examination), welcomed along with an introductory note. Assistant Professor Geetha Poornima K, Pinnacle IT Club Coordinator proposed vote of thanks.

The exhibition attracted faculty and students from various departments, who expressed their admiration for the innovative solutions showcased. The students explained their models with enthusiasm, highlighting the technology behind each creation and its potential benefits to society.
