Mangalore: Rachna, a prominent organization for Konkani Catholic entrepreneurs, professionals, and farmers, marked its Silver Jubilee on Sunday with a grand celebration at the Kulshrekar Cordel Hall in Mangalore. Under the leadership of President John Monteiro and the Executive team, Rachna launched the 'Rachna Catholic Co-operative Society', aiming to support Konkani Christian youth entrepreneurs. 

The event was graced by distinguished guests, including Archbishop of Bangalore Dr. Peter Machado, Rear Admiral Nelson D'Souza, Commandant of the Military Institute of Technology in Pune, Michael D'Souza, Rachna President John Monteiro, Rachna Executive Director Marjorie Texeira, Secretary Vijay Vishwas Lobo, and Executive Committee Member J.R. Lobo.

Speaking on this occasion Archbishop of Bangalore Dr. Peter Machado said "The Christian youth community in Mangalore is increasingly focusing on securing jobs abroad, often with the aim of earning substantial income through quality education. However, for the development of the nation, there is a significant need for skilled IAS, IPS officers, military personnel, and entrepreneurs. The Christian youth must focus on this aspect."

Archbishop Machado expressed concern that as children are increasingly moving abroad for employment, some elderly family members are left with feelings of insecurity, and there is a growing need for them to stay in old age homes. 

The chief guest, Rear Admiral Nelson DSouza, Commandant of the Pune Military Institute of Technology, also spoke at the event. He appreciated Rachna for promoting entrepreneurship alongside business skills and emphasized that this effort should continue to grow.

Mangalore Bishop Dr. Peter Paul Saldanha presided over the event and addressed the gathering.

As part of the celebrations, the ‘Rachna Catholic Co-operative Society’ project was inaugurated, aimed at supporting Konkani Christian youth entrepreneurs. In addition, the founder of Rachna, the Marito Sequeira, was honored for his vision and contribution.

A documentary showcasing the journey of Rachna, from its inception to its current success, was also presented.
