Hyderabad, July 08: An FIR has been registered in Hyderabad against comedian Ratan Ranjan and others for putting a morphed photo of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on a sanitary pad and circulating a video, police said on Monday.
Telangana Youth Congress President Jakkidi Shiva Charan Reddy has filed a complaint with the police, alleging that Ranjan and others are spreading false and malicious information against Rahul Gandhi through social media posts. He has alleged that by doing so, he has violated the dignity of women.
According to the complainant, by placing a morphed photo of Rahul Gandhi inside a sanitary pad and publishing/circulating its obscene video on social media, Ranjan has violated the dignity of women not only in Bihar but across India and trivialized the issue of women's health.
The complainant alleged that the All India Women's Congress had recently started a campaign to distribute sanitary pads to poor women in Bihar and that it was being targeted with malicious intent.
Based on the complaint, a case was registered against Ranjan and others under relevant sections of the BNS and IT Act on July 6, said a police officer at Begum Bazaar police station.
