Mangaluru: University Evening College, Mangaluru  organised Panel-student group-Interactive dialogue on “Reforms in the Democratic Electoral System” on the occasion of  Azadi Ka Amruth Mahothsav on Thursday, 17th March 2022 at Ravindra Kala Bhavana.

The  programme was inaugurated through lighting the lamp by Shri. S. N. Bhat, Senior Lawyer, Mangaluru. He began with a saying that internal vigilance is a pride of democracy. One vote can change the future. Fire of democracy should be in our heart and never die. Each of us should save our democracy before it dies. In all political system democracy is the best system. For a good democracy let us be good citizens.

Chief Guest Smt. Pramila Rao, Assistant prof., Dept. of Political Science, Govt. first Grade College, Kavoor, Mangaluru said that citizens should initiate the change for the betterment of democracy. New voters should register and each one of us should vote rightfully. 

Captain Ganesh Karnik has chaired the mock parliamentary session and initiated it with a word that democracy is for enlightened citizens. In democracy it is important to listen to others with respect. 

Dr. Subhashini Srivathsa, Principal of the College in her presidential talk said that we need to be human. A good human being would naturally follow the Dharma of democracy.

Dr. Madhav M K Assistant director of the student union, Co-ordinator of  MA Tulu, Dr. Devdas Pai, Co-ordinator of MA Konkani  and Dr. Rathi Nodal officer of Azadi Ka Amrut Mahothsav  were present.

Compeering was done by Ashwini, Dr. Rathi introduced and welcomed the chief guests, Pavithra invoked a prayer. Madhushree J Shriyan performed the prize distribution. Vote of thanks was rendered by Latha. Teaching and Non Teaching Faculty and Students were present during the programme.

On this occasion competitions were conducted among students. In Slogan writing PG dept. student Latheesh of  I MA Tulu bagged the Ist place, Jayson Pinto of I MA Konkani got  IInd and Ashweeth K of I MCom bagged the IIIrd place. From UG dept. Nanjunda Raj of III BA got the Ist place, Jhancy P U of Ist BA bagged the IInd place and Alwyn Fernandes of Ist BCA bagged the IIIrd place. 

In interactive debate the candidates who spoke for, won prizes, they are Sujal of Ist Bcom as a good Initiator. Latheesh of I MA Tulu got the prize as a good presenter and the winners who spoke against are Anoop Krishna of III Bcom got the prize for Intelligent speaking and Ganesh Acharya of II BA for being a Good Debator.
